The Next Chapter of Digital Amateur Television in Northern California

Presented by Joel Wilhite, KD6W

Joel works at the corporate office of Harmonic Inc in San Jose and is directly involved with the development and delivery of the next generation television standard, ATSC 3.0. He has done a few presentations for our SBE chapter. His work helps him make the case for deploying amateur repeater systems based on off-the-shelf broadcast equipment where broadcast gear evolves in 5 year cycles forcing gear to drop out of the market which ham radio operators can easily leverage. It was not a rehash of the PACIFICON presentation on same. Joel presented all new exciting material and provided MDARC’s membership some truly cutting edge information and technology. Joel put on a superb presentation covering ATSC 3.0 (NextGen) as well as possible options and ideas for the next stage in technology for digital amateur television on July 17th for the Mount Diablo Amateur Radio Club.
